Today is the big day we’ve all been waiting for. Its been a long cold winter after not seeing any October baseball and then having the Phillies take the crown. None of that matters though as we’re about to see the Mets win the season’s last baseball game!
***
I’m not thrilled with Gary Sheffield being on the team. The thoughts of him taking ABs away from Daniel Murphy or just mucking it up in right field worry me. He may provide a presence and protection behind Delgado/Beltran. Hopefully it manages to work out.

First pitch is moments away and the Phillies are already in last place!

this was some good shit. the staff was great.
it was frustrating dealing with the offense. too many LOB
4:54 PM
Agreed; every time bases got loaded it seemed 7-8-9 was at the dish. That will undoubtedly be frustrating this year.
Also, nice going for Church with a couple of hits (as lucky as they were), a stolen base, and a nice little outfield play.
Pretty sure the weather (37 degrees, rain, ice) didn't help the bats much today, but I like what I saw.
5:43 PM
Murphy reminds me of a young Wade Boggs. Boggs was an intelligent hitter that through hard work significantly improved his defensive skills. BTW In Boggs first year in 338 at bats he hit .349 with an OBP of .406 and an OPS of .847. In Boggs second year in 582 at bats he hit .361 with an OBP of .444 and an OPS of .931.

Hey guys I started my blog Mets Beast back up, just wanna get some people to start reading again... Thanks a lot guys! Let's Go Mets!
1:20 PM
TC - didn't know you were a poet!
Lots of stuff to be optimistic about - Castillo got the ball out of the infield, Murphy's got an idea about hitting, Johan was off the hook, the new bullpen guys did the job.
This team will go as far as their pitching will take them.
1:36 PM
I'll be at the Bowery Poetry Club this Friday doing spoken word. All are invited to attend.
6:56 PM
Boggs is a nice comparison. Thankfully that's just on the field because WB was an asshole, and Murph is just a nice kid with the art of hitting written in his mind. I keep on thinking "Future Batting Champion" every time I see him bat.
Castillo doesn't swing until two strikes. Not as if Schneider's going to steal before him. A bit more aggressive would work, I think.
Pelf and the Mets start too late to watch tonight for those of us in Western Europe, but I'm psyched that I'll be able to watch in HD on MLB.com in the morning. Now if they could figure out that I don't live in Texas! (Zip code)
Glad this here blogs turnin new words.
8:39 AM
I dig seeing Murphy in the line up and I, of course, want to see him succeed. You guys are real up on this guy, but I see a long swing. I don't like the fact that the end of the bat is facing the pitcher when he starts. I'm afraid this will expose holes in his swing and pitchers will take advantage. Any comments?
9:14 AM
My comment is that he may have a hole in his swing but he's a smart guy. There's something to be said for a guy with such a plan of attack at the plate.
ALot of people were nervous about how Murphy would be this season but watching him bat last season you knew he was the real deal because he's advanced and has a plan up there.
10:47 PM
Bullpen giving fans heart attacks once again.
Murph negates any holes with his pristine pitch selection abilities. Guy means business.
Pelfrey looked shitty tonight.
11:05 PM
Pelfrey gutted it out. There's something to be said for that. Delgado's poor defensive play didn't help the pitchers out much. When he hits like that it's easy to forgive him, though. Good comments on Murph. The more I see him the more I like him.
I'm going to the game today. Let's hope Ollie the enigma brings his "A" game.
6:59 AM
Seasons greetings from Rickey!
9:28 AM
Well that sucked.
No wonder Mike doesn't want to come back.
10:39 PM
The Mets lost the 1st and last games they played at both the Polo-Grounds and at Shea. Now they lose the 1st game played at Citi.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
11:31 PM
Peace out, Mikey.
It was a nice place to visit.
While it lasted.

"the slow death continues"Of what?
The Mets or this blog?
I'm thinking both.
Actually this blog is dead. Ossy has been awesome, but it's not his baby. He shouldn't be the one trying to keep it alive.
Take this fucker off life support. I'm tired of coming here at least 5 dpw hoping that Mike has suddenly returned.
He's done. It's obvious he's tired of keeping up with it. At this point I just want it to go away.
9:59 PM
Gents, I just started my own blog. It's called Makes Mets. makesmets.blogspot.com. Come on over. Check it out and join in. I started it due to the fact that this blog of Mike's doesn't seem to exist anymore. He is the king and I hope he has the time to drop in. I've always been a big fan of this blog and all of you guys that comment on it. So hoping we can get things rolling again over at my spot. In need of having an outlet to discuss Mets. Hope to see you there. Just put up my first post.

I know this place is a graveyard ... but after the Mets just dealt Church for Francoeur, I needed to vent.
FUCK.
Bye, gentlemen.
11:11 PM
I guess I'll make the comment for this month.
How bout we dump the manager, coaches and GM.

4:36 AM
This season has been a long, slow, six month death march. The front office is an abortion, the injuries just ridiculous now, and the fact that we have no viable replacements in the minors (who are remotely over the age of 20) really gives me GREAT HOPE (facetious) for the future.
Seriously considering not re-upping my season tix for next year unless some changes are made. Can't justify spending in the neighborhood of $4k-5k to watch Cory Sullivan, Angel Pagan, Wilson Valdez, Daniel Murphy, Omir Santos, and all of those other fucking miserable players half-ass it every day.
Lastly, is anyone still alive out there?
12:32 PM
See the last line in this final post? "First pitch is moments away and the Phillies are already in last place!" See that? Fuck this site.
TAKE THIS FUCKING SITE DOWN!

Been a while since this blog was updated but it's about time. Let's talk about the Mets in 2010!! I think they keys are obviously the health of Reyes and our opening in Left Field. Those are just the primary concerns. Surely there are more than that but I wanted to open up the discussion!!
Also, I want people to head to my client site, Steiner sports to check out some awesome Mets Memorabilia. Thanks all. METS 2010!!!

Check your blog comment -- Ossy
Check your e-mail -- Mike
I want to resurrect the blog for 2010.

Eh. Nobody cares. Mike is either dead or a Yankees fan by now. And I would be shocked if Ossy ever looked at this thing again.
Total waste. Used to be a kick ass blog.
12:09 AM
I've made contact w/ the powers that be (Mike/Ossy both alive and well).
Stay tuned.
